Leave with a question you can use

What do you still need to know?

You do not have to leave with a treatment picked out. Leave with a clear account of your concern and a question that will help you understand the next offer.

Make your call · a learning step

A folded strip of cream paper opens into an ochre path between still green planes.
Leave room for the next question.

Choose a next step for your care

Ask a licensed care service how it would assess the concern. Ask who would do that work and where you can check the person’s record.

Medical-board guidance reviewed in September 2026 calls for arranging tests or referring when the needed assessment cannot be completed remotely.

Note A

These are recommendations for state boards. Ask the board in your state which rules the clinician must follow.

Review the routes into care

If you are comparing an offer

  • Can I name the clinician and find the right board record?
  • Do I have the exact drug name and form?
  • Can I explain what the evidence does and does not answer?
  • Do I have a full written quote and renewal terms?
  • Do I know who handles later questions?

Go back to the point you cannot yet explain in plain words. Ask for an answer before treating it as settled.

Keep a question list for the discussion

If the offer still feels unclear

Name the missing answer: the person, the product, the evidence or the bill. Ask for that answer without adding a commitment.

You can ask about another care route or leave the offer for now. The useful next step is the question you need answered.

Page notes

  1. Medical-board guidance on incomplete remote assessment

A screen visit needs a route to an exam or test when the problem calls for one.
